Privacy policy
Bike Brevard Map and Bike Brevard Kids collect nothing. They have no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no crash reporting and no server of their own. Nothing you do in either app is recorded or sent anywhere.
Your location
Either app can show where you are on the map, as a dot, if you ask it to. It stays off and asks nothing until you tap the location button. The first tap explains what the dot is for and lets you say no, then your phone asks for permission.
- The apps ask only for permission while you are using them. They never ask for, and cannot use, your location in the background.
- Your location is used on your phone for two things: drawing the dot, and working out how far a place is from you along the path. It is never stored, logged or sent to us or anyone else, and it is forgotten when you close the app.
- If you say no, everything else works as before.
What the apps store
Every map, place and ride is part of the download, which is why the apps work with no signal. They keep no history of what you tap, filter or ride, and no profile, preferences or usage log, on your phone or anywhere else.
Maps and links
The street map under the path comes from your phone’s map provider. The apps pass it no information about you and ask only for the map of Brevard, North Carolina. On iPhone that is Apple Maps, covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
On Android, Bike Brevard Map uses Google’s Maps SDK, which is built into the app. Google says the SDK sends Google technical information on its own account, such as the device model, crash reports and the IP address, and it draws the location dot if you turn it on. We do not see or receive any of it. Google’s privacy policy covers it.
Some places have a website link. Tapping one opens that site in your browser, where that site’s own policy applies.
Children
Neither app collects data from anyone, including children. That includes Bike Brevard Kids, which is made for families riding together.
Your privacy choices
There is no account to manage and no data of yours to see, download or delete, because the apps do not have any. The one choice is your location:
- Turn the dot off for now: tap the location button on the map again.
- Stop the dot coming back: once allowed, it comes back on by itself when you open the app. To stop that on iPhone, go to Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Location Services, pick the app and choose Never or Ask Next Time.
- Remove everything: delete the app from your phone.
Changes and contact
If a future version ever collects anything, this page will say so before that version is released. Questions: Sarah@pushpopdigital.com.
